Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Above is the picture of Jewel with her Santa hat on her and it says (as you can probably see) it says 'Merry Christmas from Elránia and Jewel'. Last night my parents and I went over to my Aunt and Uncle's house and my grandparents were there and we had a Christmas party. My little cousins' ages are eight and six, so as you can probably guess, they aren't always well behaved LOL, but they surprisingly obeyed my for the most part last night. I got $200 to go shopping with from my grandma, (Thanks so much) and lots of body lotions, perfumes, and shower gels from my cousins. Then at 10 at night my mom, my dad, my grandma, and me went to the service at church. I almost fell asleep a few times, (oops.) Christmas morning I gave my parents and my grandparents their presents, and I'm not going to say all the things that I got, but one of the gifts I am most thankful for is hand and foot warmers so my hands and feet won't freeze this winter at the barn! (Thank you so much mom and dad.)

Yummy Christmas Cookies!

Above are pictures the Christmas cookies that we made this weekend and Monday night.
Top: Spritz cookies shaped like, flowers I guess? We make them with a weird machine that hasn't really been working very well lately. Actually I haven't had any so far this year, but I brought some to the in our handbell choir at church. Most people had one, my friend Cornet Crazie, had at least five I believe :).


Second: My all time FAVORITE! And actually the only cookie that I've had so far this year, the peppermint swirl cookies. Basically all we do is put peppermint flavoring in them and twist three strips of red, green and white together, then we cut them up, and with a cup turn them so they're swirls!


Third: Spritz tree cookies. Just with a cookie maker we shape them like trees and put sprinkles on them. I think I did have one of these...


Bottom: 'Gingerbread Wishing Cookies' Yummy gingerbread cookies shaped like stars. There's some way that you have to break them and if you do it the right way you get the wish. We also put icing designs on them but we haven't had time for that yet.




There is also one other cookie that we haven't had time to make yet, (and in fact I'm not so sure if we're going to make them this year,) my mom and I call them the 'death balls'. Just to quickly sum it up WHY exactly we call them 'death balls', two sticks of butter go into one batch =D



Today was the last day of school and now we're finally on break. I'll hopefully bee posting every day now. This break I'm looking forward to some fun times with my family, lots of time to practice my drama lines, and great bonding time with Jewel.

Phew! It's good to be back on. My mom had to use the house laptop for work this past week and it's really hard for me to find time to post during the school day, that's why I haven't posted since last Monday. I'll tell you what I've been up to the past few days:




Friday: Went Christmas shopping after school for my parents. Got my dad some Russel Stover dark chocolate truffles, and I got my mom some Lindt milk chocolate truffles. I also got Olive Tree (one of my best real life buddies) some Lindt chocolates with mint filling. 




Saturday: In the morning I rode Jewel, and I swear I was working HARDER than her (we were trying to canter) she's been getting randomly injured recently (she's fine at the moment) *knocks on wood* so we haven't had any really good time to work on cantering lately. Then I came home, (freezing) and I helped my mom bake our holiday cookies. That evening Olive Tree came over, and she gave me a really pretty box with a bunch of horse quotes and horse pictures and flowers on it. Thank you so much Olive Tree I LOVE it! The reason why she came over was because we were going to see 'The Magic of Christmas'. It's basically a big Christmas performance with the orchestra, chorus, actors, storytellers, and dancers. It was a very good Magic of Christmas and Olive Tree and I got REALLY dressed up, and then we got just a little carried away with makeup :). Unfortunately the little kids sitting behind us couldn't stop talking and kicking our seats, but, you know. Then we didn't get home until 11:00pm and then I fell immediately asleep.




Sunday: Woke up at 8:30 in the morning, and had to get ready to play handbells at Church. There was a great sermon at church and our handbells went very nicely. After lunch I got nice and bundled up to go to the barn and ride. I didn't feel like riding, so I just did groundwork with her. Most of the time I was just running beside her cause I was trying to stay warm too. It was lots of fun and I great bonding time with my horse. Now I'm home posting on my blog watching the Patriots and Bills game, Go Pats! I really hope that the Bills don't win the onside kick because I will start freaking out because the Patriots MUST win. For those of you that don't know me I am proud to be a diehard Patriots fan. Yes, I'm sure that some of you find that very hard to believe :). Oh phew they didn't get the onside kick. Good :). 






Alrighty, I'm sure happy to be back and posting again, we only have three days of school this week so I'll try and post every day. Hope you're all having a great Christmas season!

Ravioli day at our house!

It's always been a tradition in our family, (for a VERY long time) to make REAL Italian Ravioli at Christmastime. Above I have pictures of me and my mom making Ravioli, (my dad was doing the sauce) Tonight we'll be eating the Ravioli, (yum) My dad did take a video of me cutting the Ravioli but blogger has bee weird lately so I couldn't upload the video.

I love the Christmas season

Today since we had a snow day we decided to decorate our Christmas tree. I have some photos of my favorite ornaments and our Christmas tree, what I want for Christmas, then a tag from Isirian. Enjoy the photos!

This one above IS my favorite ornament. My grandma, (who died a few years ago just about this time) gave this to me when I was very little as well.

Well, the news we've all been waiting for

I can sleep peacefully again! Yesterday I went to the farm to see how Jewel was doing, and first I had her on a line to see how she was trotting, and she looked great, (she was just being lazy) so I got on her bareback and rode her. She was fine at the trot when I rode her as well, but I decided not to canter her just to be safe. It must have been as abscess then, cause it seems to be gone. I'm going to see her again this afternoon so me might canter and I'll give you more updates.

P.S. It snowed here!!!!!!!!!! :)

For those of you that were wondering about Jewel, she's not as lame as she was on Monday, but we pretty sure it's an abscess. So I still take care of her, but I get to ride other horses now, which is good for me, but I'm always praying for Jewel!

I remember when I first watched this Broadway show when I was seven, I cried so hard I thought that I would never be able to hear this song again. It's from the Broadway musical 'Cats'. Enjoy! *sniff*

What are we going to do with you Jewel????? From the moment I got on Jewel yesterday I could tell that something wasn't right. She was going VERY slow and it didn't seem like a lazy slow either. So after warming her up for about fifteen minutes I decided to trot her, and when I did it didn't feel right at all. Strangely, it didn't feel like it was her left front, which was the one that was injured this past summer, it felt like her hind leg! I didn't know what was going on so I had my mom go and get my riding instructor so she could watch us trot. As soon as I started trotting she told me to stop immediately and something was wring with her right hind leg. Then we felt her hock, and it was heated, so we took her back to the barn and put a poultice on it and then put her leg in an inner tube. It actually looked pretty silly. My riding instructor said that it could be an abscess, or it could have just been stiff due to the wet weather. The worst it could be would be what happened to her front leg this past summer. *shudders at that memory* I'm going back to the barn tomorrow, most likely it's not anything serious, but I'd appreciate very much if you'd keep Jewel in your prayers and thoughts :)

My new dress!

Yesterday morning my mom and I went shopping for a while, and the first thing we got was this dress from Macy's. I chose to pay for it myself, and I'll be wearing it at parties in the winter, and the spring. I hope it'll still fit me by next year! Gotta go to church now. I have lots more to post about so I'll post again tomorrow. (if I have time)

A fun time with Jewel

I just got back from the barn and I had lots of fun with Jewel! For some reason I didn't feel like riding today, (yes that probably sounds crazy to you) so I just decided to do Parelli with her. (Groundwork.) So I did the basic games, and I had her follow me while I ran in and out of the barrels, (she was so cute!) and then we did some more Parelli games, and after that I decided that it would be fun to do some liberty with her. For those of you that don't know what liberty is it's just working with your horse off the lead line, mostly doing circle games. She was doing very well off line considering that fact that we haven't done liberty in almost a year, and I had her trotting alongside the rail with me in the middle. After that I decided that I should try and have her canter off line with me in the center. We did it three times. First time, she bucks and rears and almost runs into a barrel. Second time, one buck, then goes into a good canter on the correct lead down one of the long sides of the outdoor arena. Third time, five VERY explosive bucks then she turns around and starts running toward me looking all cutesy expecting me to give her a treat. Right there is classic Jewel. :)

So it was a very fun time, and I'm glad that I actually got to do some liberty with her because I haven't done it in so long. Two years ago I did the Level 1 Parelli clinic and I passed, (yay) and since then I haven't done any work towards Level 2. Better start working on that!

And lastly here's my new profile picture, I found it on photobucket and I really liked it. I think it fits me pretty well, don't you think?

Now since I haven't been on in a while, which I'm VERY sorry I haven't, I'll tell you why, and what I HAVE been doing. I've been getting home much later, and have other things to do, such as homework, barn, and exercise, also after our conference last night I have to study and extra hour every night from now on. Last night I would have posted, but I decided that I REALLY needed to memorize my lines for drama, which I did, by the way, and it was really fun last night because my dad and I went through all the scenes that I was in and he read the other characters parts and se if I remembered mine. He actually only needed to feed me about three beginnings of my lines. So drama's going well. I had it today, and after I talked for a few minutes to the drama director, and she said for part of my costume, for my hair, she wants royal curls pulled back in a bun and lots of tacky makeup. *Giggles* That should be fun. 

So yeah, it's good to be back and posting again, and since tomorrow is Friday I'll post more on the weekends! I will say one more thing:
